Project Brief & Context

Designed for a doctor couple and their extended family in Sreekaryam, The Courtyard Pavilion responds to Kerala's monsoonal climate through deep overhangs, perforated brick screens, and an expansive central Nadumuttom. The home wraps around an open-to-sky water court that naturally purges hot air via passive convective currents, creating a consistently cool microclimate inside.

Design Concept

"The architectural philosophy centers on 'Choreographed Daylight'—using rhythmically spaced timber louvers and clerestory slits that cast shifting sculptural shadow lines throughout the day, ensuring intimacy from surrounding urban streetscapes without forfeiting lush tropical greens."
